Dramatic Granola: Identity + Packaging + UX/UI

This brand makes morsels for a flamboyantly crunchy clientele who value authentic beauty, unbound exploration and high quality snacks. Naturally over the top, Dramatic Granola blends excessive ingredient combinations with strong sustainability practices.

Packaging is designed for black algae offset ink on kraft containers and uses vibrating patterns instead of bright colors to draw in consumers and stand out against competitors. Knowing the playfulness of its’ target audience, the brand utilizes an eye-rolling icon to capture the understood too-much-ness of the product, and uses varying shapes to differentiate flavors.

UNIVERSITY OF DENVER: BRAND MANAGEMENT + EVENT MARKETING

As Associate Director of Creative Services and Web Development at the University of Denver, I led the creative vision for all marketing and communications activities for the Advancement division. Designing for an audience of alumni, donors and community members, I established brand identities for events and fundraising campaigns, creating print, digital and video assets.

In the Fall of 2022, the University launched a campus wide rebrand. I established division-specific style guides for the Advancement team and led the creative direction for Homecoming which was the first major public facing event for the institution after rolling out a new identity. With a new mark and more vibrant primary color, it was important for this week of celebration to still feel familiar to the DU community. To achieve this, I blended old with new, pulling inspiration from the Denver city flag and archived yearbook images.

Publication Design: Reports of Philanthropy

The Report of Philanthropy is an annual publication covering the University of Denver’s donors and the combined impact of their giving. 2022 hit a historic fundraising record, surpassing $106 million in commitments for the fiscal year. From dummies to delivery, I executed the 2021 and 2022 visual reports in entirety.

The final publications were printed using soft touch and spot gloss coatings, and mailed to top donors with notes of gratitude. Digital reports were shared via email and used as tools for donor relations and campus leadership to reference in their work throughout the year.

CU Boulder Next: Event Marketing

CU Boulder Next was a multi-year, multi-city event put on by the University of Colorado Boulder. Each experience was filled with inspirational TED-Talk style speeches by leaders, researchers and professors connected to CU Boulder. Throughout the program’s duration, design ownership exchanged hands across communicators on campus and ultimately landed with the Advancement team for the last three events.

We established a revised visual system for the Denver, San Francisco and New York City gatherings. The numbers in the infographic represent marketing statistics for the Denver 2019 event.

Creative Play: Film Photography + Animated Art

When I’m not designing for others, I enjoy playing with my collection of film cameras and bringing life to my mind’s creations. Experimenting with a non-digital medium gives my creativity a chance to explore light, natural textures, large-scale composition and manual overlays. My graphic illustrations are typically a mix between nonsense and precision, blending inspiration from art nouveau favorites and Dutch design patterns that pique my interest.
